Anonim

A whirlwind of words come to mind when we talk about Malasana : the Movida in the first place, but also culture, retro fashion, art... The cool neighborhood par excellence, the one that champions the modern and the bohemian, changes its appearance from Sunday and is impregnated with urban art with the new edition of Pinta Malasana.

On May 29, Spanish and international artists lend their creativity to color the walls of businesses, institutions and associations . The cultural torrent that invades the streets of the neighborhood is thus completed with a decoration that makes it the artistic cradle of the capital.

About a hundred artists create their proposals live for twelve hours (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.). The resulting works are up for vote by a jury that this year, as a novelty, is also joined by the assistants.

If three prizes are normally awarded, this edition also has an additional one to the public's favorite work.

WINNERS

After a long day in the Malasaña neighborhood becomes a museum , its streets in corridors and its walls in canvases, it's time to vote.

Although all the works have their own message, techniques or colours, the jury has decided this time to award the first prize to the Uruguayan artist The Queen . His intervention can be seen in the gates from the Horace bar (Quiñones, 19), with work that takes inspiration from his indigenous roots.

The silver medal has gone to an already very popular Dante Arcade . The artist has starred in the largest mural of the entire edition, a tribute to comics and pop aesthetics at the Freeway location (Saint Vincent Ferrer, 7). The technique and the use of vibrant colors capable of attracting all eyes have been some of the reasons for his award.

In third place they have been the artists anleartt Y Ana Emejota . The chosen setting has been the window of Good morning (Run. Alta de San Pablo, 11). It is there where both make a remembrance of the past of the area choosing a perfect color palette for it.

Finally, as we already announced, the novelty of this edition is the public vote . The attendees have been in charge of delivering the additional award to The Hooked . As a claim and call for attention, they created a mural with plastic bags that hangs in the priest's house , in the Plaza del Dos de Mayo.

The neighborhood of Malasaña does not sleep , the essence of the most cultural Madrid runs through its streets, a title that it intends to continue to deserve with projects such as the Pinta Malasaña festival.
