Height symmetry in the Eixample.
The Eixample (or 'ensanche' for being the newest part of the city), is a large area north of Plaza de Catalunya to the left and Paseo de Gracia to the right. Today it is an upper-class residential area with varied commerce, famous for being the seat of most of Barcelona's art nouveau masterpieces: the Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló and Casa Mila Art Nouveau architecture and all kinds throughout the Paseo de Gràcia and Rambla de Catalunya. That is what the Eixample teaches.
From the air, the Eixample is a perfect grid. Seven square kilometers that were designed under the most classic urbanism by Ildefonso Cerda , classicist on the map and modernist in height, for the beautiful facades that dot the entire center of the city.
