To remedy this, they decided to embark on the adventure of bring themselves all those delicious things that they ate in their homeland , and sell them in a small shop, which was like a "home" for the Italian community in Madrid. Without a roadmap and with a single premise: that they both liked.

WHY GO

Cooked ham, nduja calabrese (a delicious sausage from the Calabria area, similar to sobrassada), capicola (salami from the same region), pancetta, speck (ham with a touch of juniper from the Tyrol), Bologna mortadella... are some of the delight that they bring once a week from different suppliers. As to cheeses , also made in small dairies, you can find a verisimo parmigiano reggiano from Vaca Bruna , a roman pecorino and half a dozen others of various cures, made with raw goat's milk from the Alps . And, of course, one fresh burrata , a Buffalo mozzarella and even an unusual smoked mozzarella.

At Casa Base they also sell all kinds of olive oils, accepts (the real ones), pâtés, stone chocolates (with pistachios, hazelnuts, peperoncino...), sauces and pestos and, of course, artisan pastas, Afeltra and Gentile ( the Rolls Royce and the Aston Martin of macaroni and spaghetti, used in haute cuisine restaurants).

To eat on the spot they offer a menu, simple and practical, with more than twenty types of toast and sandwiches, made with a special bread, ciabatta type , which they order to be made in a Madrid wood oven which, as a deference, they do with less crumb "so that the bread is simply a base for everything else."
