That the last edition of SCULTO be recognized as one of the TOP 100 of Culture in Spain, according to the Observatory of Culture report. "There, it's 'ná'!" jokes the Navarrese journalist Josemaría Esteban Ibáñez, creator in 2015 of this artistic event together with the Rioja gallery owner Enrique Martínez Glera and the Valencian sculptor Beatriz Carbonell Ferrer.
And this presumption is not for less, if we take into account that only two fairs (ARCO and SCULTO), Of the more than 300 held in Spain, they appear in this ranking: "A league, as one would say in football language, in which Ronaldo, Messi or Mbappé of Culture appear in its top three positions: Prado Museum, Reina Sofía Museum and Thyssen Bornemisza Museum ", continues the co-director of SCULTO.
The works of art will be exhibited on the second floor of the Plaza de Abastos in Logroño.
SCULT PROGRAM
Named as the “Joya Fair” of Sculpture in Spain within the Spanish art sector, SCULTO_2021 will be held between the days October 7 to 10 in the Plaza de Abastos in the capital of La Rioja, whose commercial activity of selling products from the Riojan orchard and its meat will coexist with the exhibition of sculptures in this sculptural building that dates from 1930. "A pairing that works very well," explains the journalist.
SCULT OF DAY It is the fair itself, with exhibition and sale of the two hundred works of art of the galleries and artists who will exhibit on the second floor of the Plaza de Abastos in Logroño.
SCULTOeduca will pay special attention to the educational work of the event and have scheduled conferences of speakers of national and international rank –focused on analyzing different aspects of current contemporary art from the point of view of sculpture–, as well as visits guided for students (preferably from the Artistic Baccalaureate of La Rioja or ESDIR) and families with children.
The fourth edition of SCULTO could not be held in 2020 due to the pandemic.
SCULTMuseum is a program that has opened "an interesting path to enrich La Rioja and all Rioja people through the dialogue that occurs between the works housed in the Museum of La Rioja and the presence in it of contemporary art sculptures from different museums in Spain for two months", as explained by the organization, which in the first edition had the collaboration of the Würth La Rioja Museum; in the second with the Basque Museum of Contemporary Art ARTIUM and in the third with the Museum of Contemporary Art of Castilla y León (MUSAC). In this IV Edition, and due to pandemic restrictions, the collaboration of Els Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art Palm.
SCULT by Night includes visits to the most significant wineries of the DO Calificado Rioja, with the support of CRDOCa Rioja (Marqués de Riscal, Escudero Family, Vivanco Dynasty, etc.). A relaxed way –“a la Rioja style”, as indicated by SCULTO– of creating synergies between gallery owners, artists, collectors, art critics, press in general and owners of the stalls in the Plaza de Abastos.
