Fashion, art and music converge at the Dries Van Noten store in Los Angeles

Located on La Cienega Boulevard, this 8,000-square-foot boutique not only seals the firm's arrival in USA , but also becomes the Belgian label's largest space to date, made up of two separate houses, "The Big House" and "The Little House", as well as an ornate garden by Japanese artist Azuma Makoto , with whom Dries Van Noten has previously collaborated on the set design for a parade and a fashion show in paris.
The store displays most recent creations of woman downstairs and that of men on the top floor, while both sectors have a file room with a selection of pieces and accessories belonging to previous collections.

At first glance, it might seem strange that New York was not the location chosen to establish the first store in the United States. Nevertheless, Monsieur Dries Van Noten has highlighted that “Los Angeles is an extraordinary city It offers a completely different atmosphere. And since I wanted to change the concept of the store, I thought it would be the right place to do it. This was a perfect space to rethink the concept , a good opportunity to invite young artists to contribute to the place".
Upon entering it, a wavy yellow sofa and a majestic Grand Steinway piano from 1928 are in charge of decorating the first meters, at the same time that they give us a glimpse of an atmosphere of contrasts that is colored by the sharing of art, architecture, furniture, color Y prospects.
In that room they plan to play various pianists, from young members of the music academy to renowned composers and even clients who wish to interact with the environment. There is no doubt that this space will foster meetings and creative experiences that will be enveloped by the exquisite point of view of Dries Van Noten.
"The store is an adventure in itself. From the moment you enter you do it through a garden, then you come across a grand piano , and that of course is very symbolic for me, it's more like arriving at someone's private house. In the store you will find pieces of art erected by young artists and paintings that have been worked directly on the wall, I didn't want to have that feeling that it was a gallery , it's more like graffiti," says the creative director.

While the exhibitions within "The Big House" aim to reflect the inspiration behind the current collections –both those of women and men–, the exhibitions in* "The Little House"* will be governed by an independent program of constant evolution.
As if that were not enough, the extraordinary work of the renowned Belgian designer Ann Demeulemeester will be part of the inaugural exhibit at "The Little House," where you'll be able to see dramatic, fine china and lighting on porcelain, glass and metal.
The function room in "The Big House" will bring out the jewelry created by London-based designer Alan Crocetti , which in turn will be accompanied by the intervention of the Czechoslovakian artist Richard Stipl. Upcoming exhibitions will include artists from various disciplines and mediums ranging from ceramics, textiles, photography, and of course, music.
