A new app to discover what is behind the most famous graffiti in the city.
the street artist 'The fish' has been filling for 20 years smiling fish , not only the city of Barcelona, but the whole world. That's how his work got into the documentary about banksy Exit Through the Gift Shop.
Now it is possible to see his work in augmented reality (under the acronym AR) with the new Beyond Street Art app. As its name indicates, it shows us the artists and all the work that there is of certain works that we find in the city of Barcelona .
Their creators, Katrina Affleck, Emmanuel Fortunati Y Luke Shahian they decided to launch it in March 2019 after the anniversary of 'El Pez' in the gallery Base Elements of Barcelona . “The vibrant streets of Barcelona were the inspiration for the creation of Beyond Street Art ”, Katrina Affleck tells Traveler.es.
The graffiti of Barcelona are alive.
Each of them had already made his first steps in the world of urban art , specifically Katrina had already formed the platform Art Space Tours in the city. But in this case they wanted to go a step further, putting street artists in contact with the public.
“The Beyond Street Art app aims to create a bridge between the artist and the public, creating an open dialogue that has never before been possible on such a large scale. New augmented technology allows artists to link their work to digital art opening up a world of possibilities for them to tell their story and enhance their artwork,” she stresses.
How does it work? The Beyond Street Art app brings street art to life with augmented reality using the interactive map With which you can view, record and share street art with AR functions, including animations and behind-the-scenes videos of famous street performers like El Pez, dog either BL2A.
So you just have to download the app and find the graffiti around the city. Once you find them, with your screen on them, you can enjoy graffiti in animated version.
for now is only available in Barcelona , but the idea is that it can be used in other cities like Berlin, Lisbon or London in the coming months.
