Breakfast Singita Sweni Lodge

A Wild Breakfast in Kruger National Park

When you've woken up to the nearby roar of a lion and spent hours watching the creatures of Kruger National Park wake up –Or go to sleep, each one has her own rhythms – during a spectacular red sunrise over the river Sweni , the only thing that could make the day even better is a good breakfast.

Yesterday the plan was a picnic in the savannah, but today we sit in the shade of the tamarind trees of our lodge, the mythical ** Singita Sweni **, the most intimate and exclusive of the Lebombo private concession , which reopened last September after a complete renovation.

On this occasion we have been restrained and have opted for something light: freshly squeezed juice, seasonal fruits –yes, there is passion fruit!–, natural yogurt, muesli based on quinoa oats, goji berries and nuts, and South African cheeses and cold cuts.

But if you want something more grounded, you have an extensive hot menu where you will find grilled vegetables and eggs prepared in every conceivable way and accompanied, of course, by bacon, sausages and mushrooms and tomatoes from the lodge's garden. Well thought out, we're also going to order the Benedictine eggs. Before heading out on safari again, there's still time to digest by the pool in our suite.
