The perfect sauna to unwind in the middle of the forest is in Norway

Perfection exists and is in Norway.

Perfection exists and it is in Norway.

There is no one who understands rest, disconnection and the harmonization of architecture in nature better than the Norwegians. We already told you a few months ago how they had integrated a bath -the most beautiful in the world- into a glacial landscape.

You agree, right? If not, you will change your mind when you see one of the country's great architectural projects in 2018. ** Soria Moria Sauna is the best -and most incredible- sauna you have seen in recent years.**

The project has been carried out in 2018, and has recently opened its doors, although they have not yet established an entry price but they count from the Feste design studio, known for integrating buildings in nature, that it will be affordable for everyone.

Soria Moria Sauna is in Telemark.

Soria Moria Sauna is in Telemark.

Soria Moria Sauna is part of a large design project that includes six subprojects that aim to publicize municipalities in Norway and demonstrate how architecture, lighting and art can be well integrated into the landscape.

Specifically, the sauna has been carried out by Telemark Canal Regional Park , the municipality of Tokke , where the sauna is located, and the Hotel Dalen , a legendary hotel open since 1894. The sauna will be managed from this same hotel, but it will be available for both guests and external users.

Is it difficult to get here? Not because Soria Moria Sauna is located in Dalen , at the end of the Telemark canal, approximately 160 km southwest of Oslo (about 3.5 hours by car), so it is really accessible by a getaway to oslo .

“Give them it is a place famous for the amazing walks in dramatic landscapes . The objective of the project was to design a sauna for hikers who had spent the day in the mountains and needed a comfortable place to rest”, says David Fjågesund, architect at Feste, the studio that designed it.

This project ended this 2018.

BASED ON A FAIRY TALE

To build this wonder in the middle of the bandak lake , the architects were inspired by a well-known Norwegian fairy tale about a great golden palace in the Norwegian mountains called Soria Moria.

"The nordic design team I wanted the structure to be an architectural interpretation of the dramatic surrounding landscape (hence the silhouette),” David tells. For this reason, the material used has been local pine wood with which the walls, ceilings and walkway have been worked, which also connects with the surrounding paths. Which is perfect for walkers.

The sauna, which has cost NOK 5.5 million, has no specific treatments, only the sauna itself, changing rooms and the possibility of taking a relaxing bath in the lake with magical views.
