Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas has managed to win the Airport Health Accreditation from Airports Council International (ACI), that recognizes the commitment of the airports with the sanitary measures adopted to the safety of employees and passengers.

To obtain it, the airport has been subjected to a program that evaluates compliance with sanitary measures recommended by the ACI , the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), EASA, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) **and the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO). **

At the same time, the objectives of the Operational Recovery Plan developed at Aena in the month of April.

With the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA), Aena intends to guarantee the safety of airport visitors, as well as regain the trust of the passengers.

Like many other sectors, air transport has been particularly affected after the pandemic , despite the fact that, as reflected in the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in its “Guidelines for Covid-19 testing and quarantine of air travellers”, this type of transport has proven to be an environment with a low prevalence of the virus, adding less than 1% of the cases of coronavirus detected.

Among the measures adopted, the reinforcement of cleaning and disinfection in the facilities ; the control of the maximum capacity allowed; and the installation of more than 600 protective screens (distributed at different points in the terminals), signage (informing about the use of a mask, personal distance, hand hygiene...) and social distancing markings or cancellation of seats.

More of 100 hydroalcoholic gel dispensers and others contactless elements such as taps (200 new units) or hand dryers with HEPA filters (300 units) complete the airport's hygiene-sanitary plan.
