Like a movie event. One of those that generate so much expectation. Each new bit of information, photography, accelerates our little fanatic heart for the cinema of wes anderson . Each new film of his is another great cinephile event. If yesterday I published the first movie poster number 10 of him, The French Dispatch, The first trailer is out today. And it's everything we hoped for.

Star Friends cast: Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody, Frances McDormand, Willem Dafoe, Edward Norton, Owen Wilson, Anjelica Houston... Some who repeat for the second time, like Léa Seydoux or Saoirse Ronan. And others that premiere with the director of Texas: Timothée Chalamet, Elisabeth Moss, Benicio del Toro...

Music of Alexander Desplat, story written by Anderson himself plus his usual crew Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Hugo Guinness. Photograph by Robert D. Yeoman. And all the vices and virtues that we like about Wes Anderson: colours, symmetries…

As Wes Anderson advanced, The French Dispatch is a love letter to journalism and journalists. And, more specifically, it is a tribute to one of his favorite publications: The New Yorker. The director has based his story on the foundation, organization and philosophy of this mythical weekly, which, on the one hand, will talk about all the ins and outs of the newsroom, directed by Bill Murray, and, on the other, will tell three of the articles that are published in this imaginary magazine. Hence the color change to black and white in the trailer.

The city of Angoulême has served as the setting.

Anderson places The French Dispatch in an imaginary French town, called Ennui-sur-Blasé, and towards the middle of the 20th century. Not by chance, the director has a huge personal collection of The New Yorkers that goes back to the 40s, they say in the New York magazine.

The city we see on the screen is largely Angouleme, where they shot between November 2018 and March 2019.
