The prettiest pizzeria in London is pink and vegan!
** Humble Pizza ** has been open for just over a month and has already become the place to be in the London neighborhood of Chelsea.
Its interior design with a retro air, where the pink color reigns above all , and its vegan pizzas, make this space one of the most Instagrammable –and delicious– corners of the British capital.
“To design it, we were inspired by the famous ‘Formica Caffs’, coffee shops that appeared in London's West End in the 1950s, some of which have survived to this day," they explain. Chieh Huang and Alexey Kostikov of Child Studio, the London interior design studio signed by Humble Pizza.

THE 'FORMICA CAFFS'
These coffee shops, known colloquially as 'Formica Caffs', were mostly established by Italian immigrant families.
They served snacks and drinks in a modernist setting with laminate surfaces, pastel colors and cozy seating corners.
“This was the beginning of the "coffee shop culture" in London, with the King's Road at its epicenter, that attracted writers, musicians, photographers and bohemian characters of all styles”, they explain from Child Studio to Traveler.es

LA VIE EN ROSE
The interior of the premises is clad in pink Formica and "the rhythmic pattern is highlighted with cherry wood framing each laminate panel," say Alexey and Chieh.
This creative duo worked with the Formica factory to recreate the original design of the 'flax' pattern popular in the 70's opting for the tone “millennial pink”.
why pink? “The choice of color was inspired by these traditional London cafes from the 1950s, which they usually had pastel-colored interiors,” clarify from Child Studio.
Stay humble!
Other nods to the past include mosaic floors, neon and classic mid-century lighting pieces by designers Jacques Biny and Luigi Massoni.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Humble Pizza is located at 342 King's Road, in the Chelsea neighborhood , mecca of British fashion and 20th century pop culture. Moods, hippies, new romantics... everyone wanted to see and be seen here.
This Child Studio project celebrates an overlooked chapter in London's architectural heritage , while creating a contemporary and attractive environment that engages with the local neighborhood and its community.
The premises in question are located behind an old wooden storefront. The facade was stripped of all later additions to reveal the original features.

Also, the kitchen is open, creating a staging in which the diner can see how the pizzas are made.
“Child Studio's "Formica Caff" project is characterized by a solid narrative, rooted in the local context and around informed visual research”, Alexey and Chieh explain.
And they continue: “the design team captured the spirit of the neighborhood , working with cultural references to be able to tell a story that is unique to Chelsea and the King's Road."

Humble Pizza's menu offers a careful selection of vegan pizzas such as cauliflower based pizza –with truffle and mushrooms, creamy saffron and asparagus–, the devil –with meat-free pepperoni– and the classic Margatira –with vegan mozzarella–.

They also offer seasonal soups, such as Spring Green or miso, made with fresh ingredients.
