This Pride, Madrid once again claims and celebrates diversity

Anonim

The Wednesday July 6 officially start the pride festivities this year with the proclamation in the square of Pedro Zerolo, in the neighborhood of Chueca. Although June, the month of Pride, has been full of varied activities from LGTBI + claim, the week of MADO It will be the culmination of these festivities in Madrid, and this year promises a demonstration to remember.

europride , which was founded in 1992 in London, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and, although Belgrade is the city that hosts this edition, the MADO poster echoes this important date, in a tribute to Europe's achievements in terms of LGTBI + rights in these three decades. Madrid has already organized two Europride, one in 2007 and another in 2017, coinciding with the WorldPride, who set an attendance record with more than a million people.

Just as massive is expected to be the July 9 Demonstration, the first Pride of the new normality to be held without restrictions. The route will go through the same route that it has been following for a few years: It will leave from the roundabout of Carlos V and will end in the Plaza de Colón, where the manifesto will be read to continue remembering, loud and clear, that LGTBI+ people exist, and to continue defending their fundamental rights.

Pride returns to the streets of Madrid.

And it is not the only demonstration that will tour the streets of Madrid during these days. With the huge variety of neighborhood LGTBI+ associations that Madrid has, it is not surprising that there are several areas that do their own Pride and activities outside the center. The Vallecano Pride, for example, since 2017 it has been filling the Avenida de la Albufera with color, as this June 25th. Other towns in the Community, such as Fuenlabrada either Getafe , have also organized their own marches this month, some of them for the first time, as is the case with talk . On June 28, critical pride, which focuses on those realities that are often left out of the mainstream Pride, toured the streets of Carabanchel, denouncing violence at the borders.

But Pride is not all demonstrations. Every year, throughout June and part of July, various organizations work to highlight the LGTBI+ culture in all its aspects: music, art, shows, cinema... In addition to the great variety of activities that have flooded the beginning of summer, this week there will be events such as the Les-Bi tour of Madrid (a guided urban tour to highlight the lives of lesbian and bisexual women and its situation from the 20th century to the present) and the drag shows with Vedette Deivis in the Sala Maravillas.
