Cities dress up for Christmas
Madrid and Barcelona inaugurate Christmas today with the traditional act of turning on their lighting that in the two cities promises to cover more streets and spaces than other years and that can be enjoyed until Three Kings' Day.

And as a great novelty this year, also in a literal sense, comes the Megamenina of Columbus. Its 10 meter height have been dressed in 37,000 lamps that shape a dress designed by the heirs of Andrés Sardá. All this conceived by Antonio Azzato, creator of the Meninas Madrid Gallery.
The Christmas lighting in Madrid can be seen until next January 6 between 6:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.; December 24 and January 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.; and on December 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
400 sections of illuminated streets, the 39 municipal markets too... Barcelona wants color for these holidays
BARCELONA
In Barcelona it will be a dance show that gives way to the lighting of lights. will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the Plaza Comercial (El Born Center of Culture and Memory) and, although tickets are already sold out, Betevé will broadcast live the proposal that the dancer and choreographer Sol Picó has devised: l uces, live electronic music and dancers and performers expressing the hope and enjoyment of meeting family, albeit in an intimate and restrained way.
From then on, light will come on because Barcelona will have 400 sections of illuminated streets, among other things, thanks to neighborhood merchants. As a novelty, the city's 39 municipal markets will light up, Plaça de Catalunya will display Christmas lights and Calle Balmes will recover them after many years without them.
The squares of Urquinaona and Universitat, via Laietana, Gran Via, Aragó, Paral lel, Diagonal, la Verneda, Binèfar, Trajana… will dress up for a Christmas that will be especially dazzling in Creu Coberta and in Pelai where arcs of lights will be displayed from one side of the street to the other.
It can be seen until January 6 with different schedules. From November 27 to December 12, the lighting will remain on between 5:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday; and between 5:30 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. From December 13 to January 6, the slot is extended every day from 5:30 p.m. to midnight, except December 24 (until 01:00 a.m.) and December 31 and January 5 (until 02:00 a.m.).
