The center of Helsinki is going to be the new place to spend the summer.
Confinement has woken us up, it has made us search alternatives and new directions . The solutions of each city have revealed an incessant creativity. In the case of Helsinki, the town center has become what we could define as a culinary fair that promises to be the meeting point of the summer.
Senate Square , located in the center of the city, has become that new space of trust, not only in which to meet safely, but also in which to spend long periods of summer chatting with friends and recovering those good moments.
Downtown has become a place that makes homage to the local culture , but if you can also do it gastronomically speaking , the result is a new entertainment point and therefore the place to spend all the hot days of July and August.
CULINARY PARTY
There are 16 restaurants that have joined to the initiative to create a macro terrace to bring together the gastronomic diversity of the city . From the classic breakfasts, lunches, pizzas and cocktails to culinary emblems such as Baltic herring, typical tapas, hotdogs and even local craft beers.

All of this opens up among other pop ups and hygiene points necessary in the current situation: 16 bathrooms and 12 places to wash your hands , in order to give space to 480 clients , no more no less. The main objective is to boost businesses that have suffered during confinement.
DREAM SCENARIO
The location not only has the advantage of being in the center , which becomes a strategic point for tourism, both international and national, and for its own inhabitants, but it is located in front of Helsinki Cathedral, the landmark of the city.
Small gardens full of flowers become the new security measures.
The mandatory separations between the tables have been arranged as a community gardens, shared in which to plant flowers and all kinds of useful plants . In this way, the Plaza del Senado is divided into plots, separated by around 200 boxes or pots in which to plant and that lead the way for customers.
The fact that we have to adapt to a new normality and adopt new security measures does not mean that leisure time must be cut, but rather modified. Helsinki decides like this create a new meeting point, boost local business and also inaugurate an enviable space to spend long summer afternoons . (Until August 30, every day from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.)
