Since its opening in 2001, this theater (formerly known as the Kodak Theater) has been the venue for the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards Ceremony , or what is the same, the Oscars, thus becoming the first permanent venue for the celebration of said event.
David Rockwell's architecture studio has been commissioned to design the impressive building, specially designed to host large-scale events that can be broadcast live . All the details have been taken care of in this temple of cinematographic culture: from the enormous entrance door, to the five-story spiral staircase that connects all the floors, where portraits of famous actors and actresses who have won an Oscar. Among them are Marlon Brando, Grace Kelly, Jack Nicholson, Halle Berry and Julia Roberts.
But the newly baptized Dolby Theater is not reserved exclusively for the celebration of the most important awards in the film industry, from its 3,332 seats, some privileged have been able to attend concerts by artists of the stature of Prince, Alicia Keys, Celine Dion, Elvis Costello or Stevie Wonder . Even if you are not lucky enough to belong to that lucky handful, do not despair, tours are organized every day that allow you to discover the theater from the inside.
