The Veranos de la Villa are back!
Seeing our favorite events get back on track is a breath of fresh air. It seems that little by little we are quenching the thirst for leisure that we have missed so much . There is no more irrefutable proof of this than the return of the Veranos de la Villa, the most beloved and long-awaited festival in Madrid . July and August are presented in the capital with a wide repertoire of activities ready to turn the summer season into a cultural carousel.
Open the calendar and write down: from July 6 to August 29 . That will be the date on which they happen more than 50 activities , for all audiences and from a wide variety of disciplines. The Veranos de la Villa come to squeeze our agendas and occupy our days with music, theater, cinema, fashion, art, gastronomy , etc.
Just a first look at the poster is capable of transporting us directly to a dream summer. The illustrator Lara Lars has been in charge of a collage that combines the explosion of color and the most symbolic elements of this season, along with some of the most emblematic buildings of Madrid . The creation of it is the best way to capture the desire we have for summer and re-immerse ourselves in the culture of the capital.
PROGRAMMING
The Veranos de la Villa programme, as expected, covers a wide range of activities, but also the venues that will host them. Both outdoors and the Parque de la Bombilla, the Paseo de Recoletos or the Quinta de los Molinos Park ; like interiors, like the Conde Duque Cultural Center, the Spanish Theater, the Palace of Fernán Núñez or CentroCentro , among others. There will even be spaces opening for the first time, such as the mythical Cloister of the Well of the San Isidro Institute.
Inflatable castle and circus at the same time, what more could you ask for?
Among the activities, one of the most anticipated is the world premiere of Bounce by Circa, a giant inflatable castle inside which a circus awaits , and that will take place from July 7 to 18. Its appearance is that of a set of chrome bubbles, by AL_A architects . Inside, one of the most important performing arts companies in the world, Circa, will give a magical show in which the ceilings and walls are constantly transformed into the Parque Juan Carlos I.
The Conde Duque Cultural Center is the stage that hosts the most musical proposals . Artists of the stature of Natalia Lacunza or Pastora Soler , but there will also be room for operettas, flamingo performances like, like you, dance shows like Broken Chord or a tribute to the musician Marvin Gaye. Music will even explore other disciplines as in the case of illustrated concert, by Maria Hesse and Tulsa.
The Spanish Theater and the Naves del Español in Matadero will host the performing arts . family functions like It's not all fleas. Memories and forgetfulness of a famous dog, Bianco su Bianco or Ethos , but also others like OCD Suite #6 that delve into important issues such as the symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Art will land at CentroCentro, with the exhibition Here they come... from Sweden with new comics , a show featuring the work of Swedish artists who have turned comics into a feminist loudspeaker and debate on gender equality. There will also be a place for fashion, with a parade honoring Balenciaga at the Fernán Núñez Palace, or for the cinema at the Parque de la Bombilla , with interventions by personalities such as Valeria Vegas.
The Veranos de la Villa 2021 has the Republic of Korea as its guest country.
In this 37th edition, the Veranos de la Villa has the Republic of Korea as a guest country . This translates into theatrical shows, such as The History of Korean Western Theatre, performances such as Iyagui: Korean Tales , the presence of important artists such as Lee Lee Nam , even a contest dedicated to the musical fever of the moment: K-POP.
Parallel to the activities and following in the footsteps of the success of the last edition, the cycle returns to eat the summer . In collaboration with the Federation of Cooks and Pastry Chefs of Spain, the festival will bring together chefs and confectioners from the capital , both the most popular and the newest in the sector. They will take care of prepare different recipes for each activity of the schedule.
