From breakfast to dinner, including vermouth and snacks, the Gastrofestival returns to Madrid

Bars, restaurants, markets and, why not, also museums, cultural centers, shops, bookstores, cinemas or theaters... up to the 450 establishments and institutions that participate in the XII edition of the Gastrofestival, which will be held between April 17 and May 2 in the Community of Madrid.

East gastronomic and cultural meeting is a celebration of the quality and diversity of the cuisine that can be tasted in Madrid through more than 570 activities. Because this is about eating, of course, but also about approaching our tables from other disciplines such as art, cinema, theater, decoration, photography, literature, fashion and music. Do not be surprised, therefore, see in the program themed tours, gatherings and workshops in the museums, micro-gastrotheatre plays or show-cooking of fashion-inspired tapas.

Given the health crisis situation caused by Covid-19, some of these proposals will take place online, and all of them will be organized around six thematic blocks: Gastronomic Madrid, Gastroculture, Sensory Experiences, Enoculture, Gastrohealth and Family Gastrofestival, the latter with plans aimed at children.

Thus, in addition to plans such as the Tasting tapas (tapa and third of Mahou for 4 euros), the 5 star menus , the gourmet and coffee route or the culinary initiatives of the Madrid Markets, we can go to celebrate gastronomy in the great art galleries of Madrid with, for example, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum betting on Discover centenary Madrid , a tour of the works linked to gastronomy that will end with a lunch at La Bola; or the Prado Museum , meanwhile, offering the visit-workshop and tasting Meadow delights and the conference Of admirable workmanship. And add and continue. Asian cinema and gastronomy at Casa Asia, a retrospective photography exhibition of the Tetuán district in the San Enrique market, the activity Gastronomy in the works of Cervantes at the Ateneo de Madrid, a show-cooking of tapas inspired by the fashion of the 80s-90s and the 21st century in the Antón Martín market thanks to Madrid Capital de la Moda, the Bach Vermouth series at the National Music Auditorium or Los Top de Casa Decor, with recommendations for restaurants with unique decoration…

In addition, in this 2021 edition, the Gastrofestival wanted honor Emilia Pardo Bazán, on the 100th anniversary of her death. And it is that the Galician writer is the author of one of the first culinary essays in Spanish: old spanish cuisine . Its pages tell us about aromas and flavors and it will be precisely on them that it focuses Emily House. Stews and stories around the fire , an immersive virtual experience that will offer a menu of the day made up of stories in which each dish will be accompanied by a text by the Galician author, dramatized by the writers María Folguera and Silvia Nanclares. It will be on April 23 and 24.

There will also be a section dedicated to the flavors of Ibero-America to celebrate that Madrid is the Ibero-American Capital of Gastronomic Culture and to highlight the great variety of Latin restaurants in the city and the offer of ingredients of this cuisine present in the municipal markets, from avocado to cilantro, soursop, mango or guava.

You can consult all the programming through Gastrofestival website , which, as a novelty, allows access to the plans by zones between the 21 districts of the capital and other municipalities of the Community of Madrid.
