El Prat was the most unpunctual airport in Spain in 2018
2018 was a year in which air incidents made headlines and opened more than one newscast.
About 22.4 million passengers were affected by delays and cancellations over the past year and, according to AirHelp forecasts, there is no indication that the situation will be corrected in 2019.
Based on the analysis of air traffic at Spanish airports during 2018, the AirHelp platform, which helps travelers in their compensation for delays, cancellations or denied boarding, has prepared a list of airports in our country, computer from least to most punctual.

THE CANARY ISLANDS AIRPORTS, THE MOST PUNCTUAL
Flights departing from the Canary Islands were the most punctual, being La Palma airport, the most punctual in Spain, with only 11.9% of flights not leaving on time. Namely, 88.1% of its flights left at the scheduled time.
In second and third position on the list of the most punctual airports are Fuerteventura (with 87.5% of punctual flights) and Lanzarote (with 86.4%).
Gran Canaria and Tenerife North are placed in fourth and fifth position respectively, with more than 85% of flights that did not suffer delays or cancellations.

"In 2018, there were an incredible number of flight incidents that affected the vacation dreams of many travellers. Air passengers from Spain have suffered a record number of interruptions, occupying the third position in Europe in terms of canceled flights and delays of more than 15 minutes”, analyze Paloma Salmerón, Director of Global Communications at AirHelp.
However, she points out: “you also have to take into account that airports are rarely responsible for flight delays and cancellations. In our experience, the most common reasons for this are problems in airline operations, bad weather and strikes.”
