Victoria & Albert Museum

The National Museum of Art and Design is, above all, a reminder . One who whispers to us in plastic matters everything, or almost everything, is invented . There is no space in the world more complete than this, so it would be unfair to consider the Victoria & Albert a single museum. Both the quantity and the versatility of its collections make visitors believe that, in reality, they are facing a succession of chained exhibitions that covers all continents, all formats – painting, weapons, photography, textiles, ceramics, musical instruments, jewelry…–, and all periods. If something is missing, it will be because, surely, it has not been invented yet: here, among the more than four million objects in the collection, it is possible to jump from China to Europe; flirt with an overwhelming collection of British watercolours, as well as Botticelli canvases; get lost in one of the largest collections of photography –from its origins to the present– of the Old Continent; appreciate the evolution of women's underwear or be amazed at the prodigious Persian and Turkish tapestries. The great enemy of the Victoria & Albert Museum is its intensity: it is so varied that it borders on the unfathomable . Its calendar of activities presents several temporary exhibitions, talks, courses, events, artistic activities and stimulating games for the little ones.
