The great park with a beach that will arrive in Manhattan in 2022
Manhattan doesn't stop growing . An island that grows without increasing its size. It seems like a great utopia but the redesign projects of the city keep the myth of New York in good condition: it is the city that never sleeps, because something is always being done here, slowly, little by little...
With results as tasty as Hudson Yards , a new neighborhood that has seen the birth of the new skyscraper from which we all want to watch the sunset ( 30 Hudson Yards ), a Spanish market ( Little Spain ) that has nothing to envy Chelsea, and even a new monument of the city in the form of a swarm... And now, the beach.
The sandy area of the park
A few months ago, the Hudson River Park Council , revealed to the world his future project: the construction of a park in the Gansevoort Peninsula (located between Gansevoort Street and Little West 12th Street ) with a view to creating community, generating more Parkland and build a place to enjoy summers in New York.
Madelyn Wills, President and CEO of the Hudson River Park Council , she tells Traveler.es: “The engine and inspiration behind this concept is the idea of create a habitat come back to us to unite with the estuary and help to connect people with the river and with the local wildlife . We can't wait to finish the design, work with the community and get the project off the ground."
In the preliminary designs, commissioned to James Corner Field Operations (JCFO, also authors of Domino Park and the famous High Line) we can see a sandy beach area, also large parks for sports, playgrounds, places suitable for a good picnic, lounge chairs to enjoy the surroundings , solarium, and a dock for the entry and exit of kayaks.

We can also glimpse, in these more than two hectares projected , how with design nature and recovery of the natural environment is present , leaving space for the creation of marshes and, therefore, of places for the birth of own ecosystems s around the park.
Also, a few days ago, the whitney museum announced a project that, pending confirmation and final approval, is emerging as a true marvel and homage to pier 52 that no longer exists in the area.

Day's End , work of David Hammonds , would be found just outside the museum and on the edge of the peninsula, revealing the old structure of the dock. In addition, everything would be complemented with a work to recover the memory of the neighborhood in which the museum is already working, compiling interviews, oral histories of the area , graphic documents... materials that would be exhibited in the museum (and also a part in podcast format) to understand the past and present of the place.
