the courtyards in cordob a , as in most of Andalusia, have always been the epicenter of family life, a place that makes everyone proud, the center of coexistence.
This type of courtyard was inherited hundreds of years ago from Islamic culture, and with the passage of time they became true works of art , with colored tiles, fountains and well-cared clay pots.
Córdoba is the maximum exponent of this custom, its flowered patios are the pride of the neighbors , who do not hesitate to open the doors of their homes to share them with all the visitors who visit the city during the month of May. We're so lucky!

Like every year in May, east from 6 to 19 , Córdoba celebrates its Fiesta de los Patios . There are two types of patios: the stately and monumental , such as the Patio de los Naranjos or the prominent Viana's Courtyard ; and the contest yards.
These last, of ancient and modern architecture , they are participating since 1921 . To compete the patios must be decorated with time flowers , flamenco performances are not allowed in them (years ago they were one more reason in the contest) and neither are the installation of bars.
Lighting is also appreciated. -the more natural the better-, the care of pots and beds In addition to the quality of the flowers.
HOW TO VISIT A PATIO CORDOBA
This year you will not need any type of ticket to visit the patios that participate in the contest , they will all be open to the public from May 6 to 19; and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
As they mention on their website, you have to respect each one of the private spaces that you visit and be careful with the photos because there are always people who also want to go in and visit them.
The City Council has created an interactive map that allows you to follow a route with the patios that compete in the neighborhoods of Old Alcazar , the Jewry, San Santiago-San Pedro, San Lorenzo, Santa Marina-San Agustin Y Regina Realejo.
During these days other activities have also been organized, such as a classical music concert in the Patio de las Campanas on May 7, the Carnival Festival on May 10, performances by flamenco groups and much more. You can consult them all in your agenda.
