Did you know that the art of alchemy - the center of the history of harry potter and the Philosopher's Stone - has been practiced throughout the world and its origins date back at least to the time of the ancient Egyptians? “Alchemy is the science of converting what are known as “base metals” into “noble ones”, in particular gold, and of creating an elixir that leads to immortal life”, they explain on the Library website. In this exhibition you will discover who the alchemist Nicolas Flamel (Pontoise, 1330 – Paris, 1418) was and who appears in this first book of the saga as a friend of Albus Dumbledore. Browse some of the treasures in this exhibition here.

Title: 'Harry Potter: A History of Magic'. Ticket price £16.00, students £8.00 and under 18s £8.00. Check availability here.
