What most caught your attention on your last visit to London? Big Ben, Hyde Park or maybe Buckingham Palace?

Did you use the subway to go from one of those places to another? And you didn't notice the seasons you passed through! Mistake! Hidden under the London asphalt, we find some places of great historical and architectural interest.

These surprising corners have been collected in the ** Tube Architecture project, which brings together the sketches of 82 of the most beautiful stations ** of the 270 that make up the city's metro network.

The artist and illustrator who has been in charge of this series of drawings is the artist and illustrator Luis Gomez Feliu Born in Zaragoza, Basque by adoption and now settled in Asia, commissioned by NeoMam Studios, for his client Pound Place.

UNDERGROUND ARCHITECTURE

Once the stations have been selected for its architectural and/or historical importance, I made an analysis of each of them to choose the point of view, perspective, lighting, etc. to be drawn”, explains Luiz.

“We had to find a common style line for all the illustrations thinking that the purpose was the making of a poster”, he continues.

Once all the drawings were finished, we proceeded to post-production and the composition of the poster.

HISTORY, LEGENDS AND CURIOSITIES

Technical data, unsolved mysteries, legends, ghost stories and also true stories. The tour offered by the Tube Architecture drawings reveals each of the ins and outs of the London Underground.

For example, did you know that Hampstead is the deepest tube station from the city, no less than 58.5 meters below ground?

And that the tunnels dug under the Center line They have been used for practically everything. From a secret aircraft factory from World War II to the headquarters of the British Secret Intelligence Service, better known as MI6 or SIS.

One of the seasons that most impressed Luis was canary wharf , "Because of the elegant design of the glass and steel vault that gives access to the station", he comments to Traveler.es

Canary Wharf Forma is one of eleven stations on the Jubilee Line extension, each designed by a different architect. Canary Wharf bears the signature of Foster + Partners –Study that also signs the famous pickle Gherkino and The Tulip in the City of London–.

ONE STATION, ONE STORY

"I can also cite the seasons of Aldgate East, Waterloo and Covent Garden because of the emblematic buildings where they are located”, comments Luis.

the station Aldgate East The original was demolished in 1938 and replaced with another situated 500 feet along the highway where the train track was less curved. The trains ran on tracks suspended from the ceiling while the new lower platforms were excavated.

Covent Garden it is clad in the famous 'Oxblood' red glazed tiles, found in many classic tube stations. However, in this case, the bloody tint is a cruel reminder of Terris' murder by rival actor Richard Archer Prince , –and the ghost of Terriss is said to haunt this station.

Clapham Common, Kew Gardens, Harrow & Wealdstone, Great Portland Street, Gloucester Road I find them to be curious stations due to their unique and singular architecture, very different from that of any building that houses a subway in the world”, says Luis.

Right now, Luis has just finished a series of illustrations of the architectures that appear in imaginary universes such as Star Wars, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones , among others, which were later published in the form of various thematic posters.

“At the moment I am carrying out several projects at the same time, the most urgent is to finish a series of very detailed drawings in Chinese ink of the sketches taken during my recent stay in Japan” , he tells us.
