Sunset Boulevard as it passes through Hollywood
Elite shops and leatherwear enthusiasts once overshadowed the legendary glamor of the Hollywood neighborhood. Now, thanks to celebrities' sense of citizenship, much of their golden age milestones have been decked out. Grauman's Chinese Theater (6925 Hollywood Boulevard; tel. 00 1 323 464 6266), an avant-garde theater, still bears the tiny handprints of Marilyn Monroe . Kids flock to Disney's El Capitan Theater (6838 Hollywood Boulevard; tel. 00 1 323 467 7674) , while moviegoers head to the intellectual screenings at the Egyptian Theater (6712 Hollywood Boulevard; tel. 00 1 323 466 3456) , home of the American Cinematheque foundation for film preservation.
The Hollywood & Highland Mall may be just a simple Oscars theme park (the Kodak Theater hosts the ceremony every year), but it certainly makes up for it perfectly thanks to the views of the Hollywood sign and the increase in the number of celebrities in the area . On Sunday mornings there is a fresh produce market (on Ivar, north of Sunset) where the city's chefs source their ingredients.
