Both the artists participating in the intervention and Azzato and his team have since May working the pieces that are going to be part of the second edition of the exhibition ** 'Meninas Madrid Gallery',** which started yesterday, October 1st , and will remain until November 30.

Plastic artists, renowned chefs, athletes, actors and anonymous people will be in charge of reinterpreting the meninas of Velazquez , giving rise to a total of 52 creative sculptures -made of fiberglass, 180 centimeters high and about 30 kilos-, which will be the center of attention (and trending topic on **Instagram, of course).**

The initiative, which pays homage to the iconic work of the Sevillian painter -one of Antonio Azzato's great references- has been promoted by the City of Madrid , In collaboration with ACOTEX and within the framework ** Madrid Capital of Fashion .**

“This year, top-level artists have joined who have wanted to collaborate with the project's charitable purpose, and the creativities are spectacular. I have been a tennis player since I was little and I am very excited to have my idol Rafa Nadal, who will decorate one of the meninas”, Azzato tells us excited.

In addition, during these weeks, in which the meninas will be the true protagonists of the capital, locals and visitors will be able to enjoy the live intervention of one of them: that of the artist Domingo Zapata.

“Through the sculpture and the silhouette of the Menina as a blank canvas, I asked the artists: What is Madrid for you? That captures it in the figure of the menina. In this way, each individual message will help me to reveal **the message that Velázquez has for Madrid**”, he tells Traveler.es.

“For me it has been a personal and professional enrichment to contribute to interest in art is rescued through urban exhibitions , especially of young people and children, who are only aware of technology”, the artist confesses to us.

At the end of the event, as Azzato has confirmed, some of the meninas will remain as a legacy for the Madrid City Council and the sponsors, while the vast majority will be auctioned off for charity.
