Winter terraces? Yes, we do!

The Chamartín neighborhood has been accumulating contrasts since it ceased to be a town back in the year 48. Now, the great avenues dotted with skyscrapers coexist with alleys where the businesses of a lifetime are reluctant to give up more territory to offices and fast food restaurants.

And in the middle of all this, an oasis where to abstract from the world , a glassed-in refuge where you can contemplate the hustle and bustle of the city in the most absolute tranquility – this was all about contrasts, wasn't it?–: ** The Glass House. **

Located at the intersection of Juan Ramón Jiménez and Pedro Muguruza streets , we find this corner where you can enjoy the taste of traditional cuisine –with a traditional background but sprinkled with modern details– surrounded by a warm atmosphere where it always smells like spring.

URBAN OASIS? RATHER TROPICAL PARADISE

The Glass House is divided into two environments: an interior bar with high tables where to have an aperitif and the glazed terrace, a small garden of Eden that will delight lovers of homemade food.

Area, known to many as the iconic Fleming Coast , seems to have woken up –was she asleep at some point?– from that hangover she experienced in the 1960s and presents herself as a fresh and active 'micro-neighborhood' where life now takes place more and more in daylight than under the spotlights of the premises of yesteryear.

What better place than in the heart of this particular coast to plant this garden that is so welcoming and – let's get into the matter – so delicious? Two families and 50 years of experience in the world of hospitality They are the pillars of The Glass House.

On these: top quality raw material, a carefree decoration – and at the same time thought to the millimeter – and a lot of enthusiasm. Welcome to 'mini-paradise'.

NATURAL

As soon as you enter this transparent shelter, It makes you want to take everything and teleport it to our house: the wicker chairs, the crockery, the pots that hang from the ceiling,... Thus, without any change, as it is, from Chamartín to our terrace.

On the turquoise blue sofas rest cushions with ethnic motifs and on the wooden tables, the dishes in lime tones alternate with darker ones and enhance even more the original fuchsia candles.

And of course, wherever you look, green: from small pots adorning the tables to large indoor plants, not forgetting the large bouquet of white roses that crowns the entrance. “A friend gave it to us when we opened the restaurant but it won't last long: People always take a rose with them when they go out!” says Nacho, one of the architects of the project.

LET'S OPEN THE LETTER AND GET LOST IN IT!

The Glass House is a most attractive corner to share, not only a good conversation but a delicious selection of starters –although more than one will want the dish to himself–.

The choice is complicated, hence the decision to share a little of everything: black pudding fritters with honey tears, anchovies from Santoña on grated tomato with crystal bread, mussels a la marinera or the spectacular oxtail meatballs, one of the house specialties.

LAND, SEA... AND ORCHARD!

Even the most reticent to the plant world will lick their fingers with candied artichoke flowers or Wamba Russian salad , dishes all made with seasonal products.

The meat section is a journey through Spanish gastronomy in which we begin to salivate from the first bite: sirloin of old cow, Asturian cachopo with Iberian ham and Manchego cheese, escalope from Castilla...

Don't miss its steaming 'cocido corner'

Our choice? The 1970 hamburger, with smoked cheese and poached onion in pretzel bread – straight to the top 5 of our favorite burgers in the capital -.

What is the sea more for you? –after all, we are on the Fleming Coast, wink, wink–, Cantabrian hake, squid with onions and pulp or they are a guaranteed success.

And for the most traditional Madrilenians –by birth and by adoption–, they also have a steaming “cocido corner”.

For dessert? Don't even think about it: jump headfirst into the creamy cheesecake with your eyes closed. Do you have space to share some? Arabic tart and apple fritters with apricot jam they will not disappoint you.

We have new winter-spring-summer-autumn terrace in Madrid and we will repeat soon!
