FLAM TRAIN (NORWAY)
Every year, more than a million people discover why this 40-minute train ride is one of the country's must-see attractions. This route runs through the high mountains of Myrdal, and passes through the Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest in Norway. ALISHAN FOREST RAILWAY (TAIWAN)
Less than a meter wide is the track on which this famous train runs, proposed to be part of the World Heritage . Formerly, it was used to reach the most remote points of the forest, where the workers went to cut down trees, which is why its route through nature it's really amazing. In addition, it has extraordinary curves in the form of Z, and crosses more than 50 tunnels and 77 wooden bridges. In one of those zigzag sections, this beautiful video was recorded:
BERNINA EXPRESS (SWITZERLAND, ITALY)
They say of him that he is a legend, that he is one of the most fascinating trips you can undertake in all of Europe . The tour aboard the Bernina Express, with more than 100 years of history, is a route so legendary that it has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From northern to southern Europe, cross the Alps from Chur, via Davos, St. Moritz, Valposchiavo and on to Tirano, connecting Swiss and Italian culture in just a four-hour drive. ČAPLJINA-SARAJEVO (BOSNIA HERTZEGOVINA)
Sarajevo is in fashion, and routes like this one, which connects it with the city of Čapljina through the beautiful canyon of the Neretva River They may have a lot to do with it. The route crosses 99 tunnels -some of them over three kilometers long-, around 60 bridges and viaducts, and reaches a gradient of up to 24% during its passage through the mountainous village of Bradina. wow...
ROYAL GORGE ROUTE (UNITED STATES)
The Grand Canyon of the Arkansas River, known as the Royal Gorge, is, in some sections, only thirty feet wide, requiring the railway to be suspended above the river in an engineering masterpiece known as the "suspension bridge" . For decades, the train stopped at this point to allow passengers to admire the river and the canyon walls, suspended a few 800 meters above . Now, you can stop yourself by pressing 'pause'!
DURANGO & SILVERTON NARROW GAUGE RAILROAD (UNITED STATES)
In 1882 The inauguration of this historic line took place, which takes travelers from the town of Durango to Silverton through the high mountains. The steam train it still continues today transferring passengers through its narrow tracks, one meter wide. EXPRESS FROM LA ROBLA FROM BILBAO TO LEÓN (SPAIN)
It leaves only four times a year, during the summer, and it is one of our favorite trains. The trip lasts four days and three nights, which are spent in compartments equipped with two beds (bunk), air conditioning, wardrobe, piped music and a complete bathroom with shower and even a hair dryer! GORNA ORYAHOVITSA - PLOVDIV (BULGARIA)
The narrow-gauge railway known as Rhodopes is a jewel that crosses the heart of the mountains of the same name, the birthplace of the myth of Orpheus and one of the most beautiful and authentic areas of Bulgaria. Many consider this route, which passes through the highest station in the Balkans, one of the most beautiful tours in the world . JACOBITE STEAM (FORT WILLIAM - MALLAIG, SCOTLAND)
It opened in 1901 and today this beautiful train, which has become iconic since it appeared crossing the Glenfiman Viaduct in the Harry Potter movies, is a tourist attraction. Along its 210 round trip kilometres, it runs through the green of the Highlands and its beautiful lakes, to reach the charming fishing village of Mallaig, from where you can take a ferry to the Isle of Skye.
