View of Saint Peter's Basilica
Built in the 16th century, Saint Peter's Basilica is the most important church for Catholics around the world . It is here where the Pope says mass every Sunday and where millions of pilgrims end their journey every year. Decorated with gold, marble and statues, San Pedro is also a great experience for non-Christians. The dome, very beautiful from the outside, has impressive dimensions if we admire it from the inside. with some more 136 meters from the ground to its peak, it is the highest in the world. Designed by Michelangelo, he conceived such a marvel of engineering under the light of the dome of Santa Maria del Flor of Florence and the Pantheon of Agrippa , also in the record club.

Not many know that the basilica had for a very short period of time in 1641 a baroque bell tower on one of the sides of its façade, the first step in a project with two towers devised by the omnipresent Bernini . However, and for the enjoyment of his staunch artistic enemy Borromini , who had already warned of the impossibility of the project, it generated such cracks in the structure of the church that it had to be demolished, leaving the proud artist in evidence. Finally, in the 18th century, they gave up crowning the basilica with two towers and putting in their place two clocks designed by Giuseppe Valadier.
