Maison Moschino: dreams à la carte

The all-seeing fly in the room 'ZZZZZ'

There is a substantial difference between some designers decorate a room for a firm to design a hotel. In the first case, they are limited to adding bedspreads, curtains and towels with the house's color code and adding their amenities. And that's it. This does not apply to spaces like the Dior Suite at the St. Regis in New York, which is a capsule of the maison embedded in a hotel of Manhattan . The second case is different. There it is about transferring the imaginary to a three-dimensional space, in declining the brand identity. It is what the Bulgari Hotels, the Missoni and the Armani do (or try to do). The results turn out more or less forced , but I would always want to go meet them.

The Maison Moschino belongs to the latter group. Rosella Jardini , the Creative Director of Moschino wanted to create a house and fill it with dreams. She chose the one she was the first train station in the city , five minutes from 10 Corso Como. This woman, with the help of Jo Ann Tan , divided her 65 rooms into sixteen dreams different, all playful, all nice dreams, like Moschino.

Thus we find the 'Alice's Room' , dedicated to 'Alice in Wonderland' and where there is, of course, a large cup as a tea table. Also that of 'Little Red Riding Hood', the 'Red Riding Hood' , where it seems that the wolf is going to come out, the 'forest' , where, concentrating, you could even hear the sound of the wolves… I liked that my room belonged to the series 'Sleeping in a ballgown' and have a great party dress as a headboard. And be glad that I didn't have to do it in the 'ZZZZZZ' , presided over by a large fly, which deep down seemed nice.

La Maison Moschino is disconcerting: it takes you to an unexpected but beautiful place. The entrance, with fabric puppies, is, the breakfast , in a sort of bento box it is, the rooms are. But so much design does not overwhelm comfort or service. That's why I, with my 'Everything at a Hundred' prejudices, had to shut up when I slept there, so happy under my giant dress.
