By ferry to Staten Island.
Staten Island is not the most touristic place in New York, but it is attractive to take the ferry there, just to see the incredible views that its route offers.
And among the regular lines of Ferries that cross the waters of New York, we put the accent on that of Staten Island , perfect to see the skyline of the city from the sea totally free , since this line was ceded by its owner to the city with the condition that its users would only be charged 25 cents each way, something that was more of a nuisance than a benefit, so in 1997 the authorities decided that it would be free. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes, during which we can greet the Statue of Liberty , enjoy the city skyline, spectacular at nightfall and remember Melanie Griffith traveling in it with her shoes on 'Woman's weapons'.
Once on Staten Island, we can go to Historic Richmond Town, a restored rural town where you can see houses dating back to the 17th century, or Fort Wadsworth, the defensive fort built by the Dutch in the 17th century.
