Breakfast time at Casa Mãe
Last year we already discovered you House Mae because we knew you were looking for warmth, home warmth for that invincible summer. This time we repeat with more optimism and, what is better, with a full table.
It is la mesa de Orta, the restaurant of this cozy hotel that has arrived in Lagos willing to convince us that another Algarve is possible, another less noisy, more sensible and calm. And it also does it through the kitchen, since everything here comes from their own farm or their painstaking effort to create a network of local suppliers.
Few jokes with a mother's pantry. Though we could talk about feasting from sunrise to sunset, because in Orta the rhythm doesn't stop, it's time to focus now on Breakfast time, the one in which the freshly baked bread with good Algarvian butter and homemade jams, the salad leaves from (their) garden, the yogurt with honey, the cheese board, almost needless to say, Portuguese, and a selection of natural juices that will give you vitamins for the beach marathon that awaits you.
But before going out with the parasol in tow thanks Fonseca and his team for the banquet, because they are the ones who apply principles of permaculture and biodynamics in such a tasty garden. Now give mãe a beijinho and you can go now. He will wait for you on the way back Churrasqueira, your barbecue, in which you can light the fire with the chefs.
