A trip back in time to New York in the 80s through photography

We travel to the past of New York

We arrived at this graphic treasure thanks to the Gothamist website, where they say that the New Yorker Stein He took these images primarily between 1982 and 1983, when he was working as a photographer for a Bronx weekly newspaper. Now, almost 35 years later, he has decided to digitize them and post them on his Flickr account. At the moment, there are 43 snapshots available that are part of a much larger archive where portraits and costumbrista scenes predominate.

Stein, who walked the streets to capture the essence of New York becoming a witness of an era, says that “the city was different than it is now. I think it was quieter, the street lights were darker, there was more room to walk and more places to get lost. Everything often seemed new and the different areas of the city were just that: different ”, he explains to Gothamist.

“Taking photos was always exciting and I liked how it made me feel. Sometimes, I felt that I was the only one photographing. I think that's why people let me take pictures of them. It was kind of weird." You can see all of Stein's images on his Flickr account. Have a good trip!
