The chosen place has been Williamsburg's historic terminal . While the development of the project progresses, the team works two blocks from the station in The Lowline Lab . A cultural and experimentation space at the old essex street market where the conditions of the future park are created. You can visit it on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 140 Essex Street (between Rivington and Stanton streets on the Lower East Side) . A space that will be active until March 2017 and that more than 70,000 people have visited, according to figures provided by the Lowline team to Co.Exist. This "pilot lab" cost $200,000, which its founders raised thanks to a Kickstarter campaign.

Sunlight will be distributed through a system of remote skylights (which collect and reflect the sun's rays from the roof of the building with mirrors) and will both illuminate the space and promote photosynthesis of plants and trees . This technology has been developed by former NASA engineer and architect james ramsey.

The deputy director of the project, Robyn Shapiro, has confirmed to local media that the plan already has the approval of the New York City Council.
