The Eleven House (or why now we want to live in Peratallada)

It would not be possible to start talking about this project without prioritizing the two people behind it. Susanna Cots (interior designer) and Àlex Juvé (economist by training and creative by vocation) have been the 'culprits' of creating a special connection of The Eleven House with surroundings , achieving the awakening of the visitor's senses.

Both have been working together since 2001 and have left their creative mark in studios spread between Girona, Barcelona and even Hong Kong. in addition to a great list of awards behind him . It was seven years ago when they decided to settle in the Empordà region and two years ago when this house found them stealing their hearts from the first moment. Thus began the history of this house-studio.

COME AND SEE: THE ELEVEN HOUSE

After years installed in peratallada , Sussana and Àlex decided to go a step further in their commitment to this Catalan town and they began to look for a space that would unify their concerns, talk about them and all their work.

"We fell in love at first sight, even though it was a completely trashed place . We completely reconverted it and it could be said that we are facing our sanctuary . A beautiful space that embraces a art Gallery , a boutique with exclusive products and a whole plant dedicated to enjoying our time, of workshops or events either by the fireplace or in our cozy garden ”, tell Traveler.es Susanna Cots and Àlex Juvé.

“For us, the brand was born as an expression of our way of understanding, living and sharing life . Art and nature are the opportunity to open the doors of our house and show this interpretation of design as an element of identity”, they continue.

As its name indicates, The Eleven House is located at portal number 11 of Calle Mayor in the town of Peratallada , with the best views of the medieval castle. “Besides, eleven is a master number according to numerology and it has spiritual connotations that arouse concerns and make us fall in love. It is in English because our interior architecture studio is international and is linked to the brand”, Susanna and Àlex point out.

The exterior, as cozy (or more) than the interior of The Eleven House

It took only six months to perfect this inspiring project. They began the rehabilitation being the first weeks away from Japan with the peace of mind that their team from more than 20 years ago was doing their job. Thanks to all the members The Eleven House was built in record time and today can boast of being one of the most charming enclaves of this Catalan town . And of course, it delights all those who love design.

Crown jewel? During the work, they found a true treasure that today is one of the most precious elements of the house: “As I said before, we believe that houses find us and not the other way around. There was something in it that attracted us and, right at the beginning of the works, we discovered that it housed a part of the medieval wall from the 14th century ”, they say excitedly.

But this was not the only element with which he gave them the house. As the reform progressed, they also welcomed ancient doors sealed with tiles dating from the year 1700 . "In the end, there are endless intangibles that make the space a refuge in capital letters," they indicate.

SHOPPING, ART AND MUCH MORE

The whole house is to live it from start to finish. From the boutique with access from the main street to the rest of the floors where you can find the art gallery, the garden with views of the medieval castle, the creative workshop room, the kitchen for the courses, spaces for yoga classes

“Each environment has its mission and its moment. We invite you to discover which one is yours. In these months and due to the circumstances in which we all live, the boutique is the space open to the public with no limitations other than avoiding crowds . The rest is need to visit by appointment ”, comment Susanna Cots and Àlex Juvé.

They were very lucky to start their journey before the arrival of the coronavirus, creating unique moments that allowed them to share sensory experiences, especially through fragrances and nature . “The pandemic has made us reinvent ourselves and we are looking forward to being able to resume our activities, which will surely continue to nurture us,” they indicate.

The most immediate plan is a pop up that they have just launched and that will be installed from March to September. The chosen place? The garden. “It is a year to fill it with beauty and embrace nature more than ever , that's why we open a greenhouse . We want to imbue it with magic through flowers and scents to change the energy of our houses and fill them with color”, comment the creators.

But The Eleven House goes far beyond personal use and enjoyment; brands or companies also have a place here. How? Reserving the studio exclusively for photo shoots, filming, work meetings... In short, the perfect location to let all creativity flow that we carry inside and create a unique environment that overflows with beauty, sensitivity and lots and lots of light.

THE ELEVEN HOUSE AND PERATALLADA: RECOMMENDATIONS TO VISIT THE VILLAGE

-The visit to the castle of Peratallada is mandatory that has more than 1000 years of history behind it, a journey through time that comes in the form of our present.

-Stop at Plaça de les Voltes (but not before having made the obligatory stop at the Tourist Office) to recharge your batteries at one of the terraces in the area before continuing to wander through the cobbled alleys of the medieval town.

-Approach the church of Sant Esteve , an authentic architectural jewel dating from the 12th century.

-Give yourself a true tribute based on the best local gastronomy.

-And, of course, do not forget that we are in the Costa Brava and that only about 15 km separate us from the coast or from magical enclaves such as Begur . Carla Lloveras awaits us here in her accommodation project La Bionda, opened last summer 2020 in the midst of a pandemic.
