San Antonio del Mar Beach Llanes Asturias

San Antonio del Mar, a beautiful wild cove with white sand and crystal clear waters

framed in the Protected Landscape of the Asturian Eastern Coast it's found San Antonio del Mar, a beautiful wild cove with white sand and crystal clear waters. The spectacular cliffs of white limestone rock and the mantle of green meadows that crown them, together with those waters of a delicious turquoise blue, form the perfect setting that places us in a specific place, the Cantabrian coast.

This cove, separated from the more popular and crowded beach of Cuevas de Mar by the cliffs of Punta San Antonio, It is shell-shaped and approximately 70 meters long and about 47 meters wide at low tide. –We must remember that in the Bay of Biscay the tides have the ability to completely change the coastal landscape depending on the time of day-.

Flanked by the cliffs so characteristic of this area of Asturias , with its cavities patiently carved by the waves over the centuries and that form textures of extraordinary beauty, San Antonio is a cove to enjoy not only the pleasant summers of the north in which it is not scary to look at the thermometer, but also of the spectacular natural beauty of eastern Asturias.

This is a wild beach with all the letters and its beauty is up to the task. It's without doubt that the majestic cliffs, that escape out to sea, long as a grandmother's hug, provide shelter to the cove, whose waters are usually calm.

However, to enjoy that indomitable Atlantic spirit, you only have to climb a few meters and walk along the top of the cliffs, where several paths take different directions and social distance is not a problem. You can easily get to the hermitage of San Antonio and it is also likely to find prints as Asturian as the cows grazing peacefully , with the Bay of Biscay roaring to the north and the imposing Picos de Europa in the distance.

San Antonio is a natural and wild cove and as such does not have any service. However, nearby Cuevas does have all the services – showers (currently disabled due to Covid-19, but normally in use), litter bins, etc. plus a beach bar, security team and parking in a nearby meadow (Parking costs €2.50 all day).
