With hundreds of confirmed artists, PHotoEspaña 2022 , the quintessential appointment with photography, will kick off the next June 1 with a complete calendar that will extend until August 28.
As is now tradition, PHotoEspaña welcomes June with a program in which the camera lens is the protagonist. Specifically, you can enjoy 120 exhibitions by 442 photographers and visual artists during an edition that is also very special.
Because this 2022 PHotoEspaña is celebrating: celebrates its 25th anniversary. Documentary-style photography, women photographers, and classic and contemporary Spanish authors are the three axes that the contest born in 1998 has chosen for this year.
Without a doubt, the range of options is wide and it is difficult to choose, but here they are five great must-haves that PHotoEspaña 2022 will bring us.
AMONG THE ROYAL COLLECTIONS
Among the great novelties of this edition stands out the incorporation of National Heritage with two exhibitions, one of them in the Royal Palace.

A sample that collects the best examples of landscape photography of the Royal Collections of authors such as W. Atkinson , J. Laurent, C. THE ART OF THE DOCUMENTARY
Documentary photography is one of the great axes of this PHotoespaña 2022. Sandra Guimaraes (artistic director of Bombas Gens Center d'Art) and Vincent Todoli (advisor to the Per Amor a l’Art Collection), invited curators, have created an overview of the best of this style under the title Sculpting reality.
Inviting you on a journey through the evolution of the documentary style, Sculpting Reality is divided into two large group exhibitions with iconic names like Walker Evans , Xavier Ribas, Garry Winogrand, Henri Cartier-Bresson or Robert Frank.

WITH A WOMAN'S NAME
This 2022 we will be able to enjoy three great exhibitions of women photographers: Tina Modotti, Kathi Horna and Germaine Krull.
National Chalcography will have an exhibition that will collect the work of photojournalists Katy Horna Y Margaret Michaelis.
The exhibition The Amsterdam Boxes: Katia Horna and Margaret Michaels in the Civil War gathers the unpublished work , that was considered lost for decades, of these two objectives that covered the Spanish Civil War.

TRIBUTE TO TWO GREAT
when it is fulfilled the centenary of the birth of Català-Roca , PHotoEspaña has prepared a tribute to the father of the generation that renewed the photographic language and one of the fundamental photographers of the documentary humanist photography of the Spanish postwar period. For its part, MAPFRE Foundation will present an extensive retrospective of the recently deceased Carlos Perez Siquier.

THE MADRID OF YESTERDAY AND TODAY
