Dreams come true: a floating taco bar in the Caribbean

Anonim

Saint John is one of the three smallest islands in the virgin islands in the USA, a paradise of crystal clear waters, towering palm trees and lush vegetation, so much so that 60% of its surface is considered a Natural Park. This island lives, for the most part, from tourism, with accommodation in villas, water activities and delicious native tropical food.

Lime Inn o La Posada de Lima has been working on the island since 1984 with a menu based on Caribbean food and fresh fish, all local and organic. Since 2019, in addition, they add an exotic proposal: a floating taco bar.

“Lime Out is a floating taco boat located on the southeast side of Saint John in Coral Harbor . The simple combination of tasty tacos plus the sea make, as we like to say, the best day of all”, they explain to Traveler.es.

But you'll have to earn the tacos , because they are not on the edge of the beach. You can only access Lime Out by boat, paddle surf or kayak. You will also not be able to swim in the surroundings because it is not safe, as they assure from their website.

If you get here in your own boat you have to take into account several issues, such as anchoring. “ Anchors can be very damaging to our seabed. Lime Out is looking for solutions to reduce or eliminate anchoring around Lime Out and in the Virgin Islands. If you are anchoring, you must do it in the sand”, they add.

Therefore, they recommend anchoring in the sand after snorkeling to make sure you are not damaging the reef. “ There are many bays around Lime Out and Coral Harbor that are protected or contain sensitive environmental elements. Keep this in mind when spending the day on this end of our beautiful island."

And above all: they do not allow anchoring in Hurricane Hole, National Monument.

The important thing is to have a good day.
