"See Raquel Welch in Mankind's First Bikini!" it was the slogan that promoted the film A million years ago B.C. Few people –except the very cinephiles– remember that film that shows the impossible encounter between the human race and the dinosaurs, but Welch's image in a fur bikini lingers as 60s pop icon. A curiosity: the poster of the film - in which the actress stood out - adorns the cell of Tim Robbins in Life imprisonment, the prison drama based on a novel by Stephen King that today is a classic of the nineties.
The legendary British producer Hammer Films (responsible for the Dracula saga with Christopher Lee ) found in The Cañadas del Teide a simulation of what wild beauty might have been like in prehistory. Beauty that has contributed to the Teide National Park be protected as World Heritage. This does not prevent visiting the places that Welch stepped on fleeing from charming rubber dinosaurs animated in stop motion.
