the particular human chain by the French creator Saype continues to traverse the world. With its innovative technique of biodegradable paint from chalk and charcoal , the artist has captured his latest set of giant hands on a grassy area of Dubai Expo 2020.
This is the eleventh part of his ambitious project Beyond Walls , based on the drawing of pairs of large linked hands in corners of the whole world, sometimes very significant, like a old african slave market, a cape town shore ("to reconcile the people of a city where the scars have not yet healed") or the Bosphorus Strait , which separates Asia from Europe.
“In an increasingly polarized world, the artist chooses to paint the largest human chain that exists, inviting us to embrace kindness and togetherness ”, they explain from the Saype team. Now, Saype, invited by the Swiss Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020, has chosen the United Arab Emirates to capture his work twice. The first part of his ephemeral art, the one we see in the photos that illustrate this report, was unveiled on October 29 on the occasion of the Swiss National Day. In it you can see a hand with bracelets and a henna tattoo, a type of body decoration very typical of Arab countries, hugging another.
