Costa Rica has been one of the few countries in the world that have remained fully open in times of pandemic and that has been noted in its visitor figures, recovering more than 50% of international tourism.
More than a million travelers welcomed in 2021 the country of Pura Vida, which continues to be one of our favorites when we long for adventure, exoticism and biodiversity. In fact, Spain leads the ranking of European travelers since Costa Rica opened its borders in August 2020.
And if we already had more than enough reasons to choose the central american country as a holiday destination, now we have to add a new one, but not just any one, but one of seven stars, since, as confirmed by the Presidency of the Republic, will soon arrive in the province of Guanacaste, specifically in the Gulf of Papagayo, the One and Only Papagayo hotel, the first of this superlative category in its territory.

"I am delighted to see the One and Only premium label tourism in Guanacaste, taking advantage of Emirates-Jetblue codeshare flights that provide us with connectivity from Dubai to Liberia and San José, as part of the global network of the ICD family”, said Carlos Alvarado, president of Costa Rica, in a meeting with the Dubai Investment Corporation (ICD), the who will take care of this hotel project, a complex that will have 167 rooms and 41 residences.
The opportunities offered by Costa Rica to the ultra-luxury segment are still to be explored, but little by little the big hotel chains are putting the focus of attention on their almost virgin coastline, in its tropical climate and in all the unique experiences (and natural) it has to offer.
Four Season settled in the Papagayo peninsula some time ago and the Marriott chain has a five-star adults-only hotel on Manzanillo beach, also on the Gulf of Papagayo. So everything points to the new One and Only Papagayo will be a complete success.
