Eric's Bar

Today we propose a selection of bars that unites two of Granada's best-known products: its tapas and its bands . If you are one of those who thinks about going through the Amador in case one of Los Planetas appears, this compilation is made for you.

SORIA BAR

In the central Plaza de la Trinidad is one of the favorite places of the indies from Granada when it comes to having a beer with a tapa: the Bar Soria. Is about a small place decorated in a traditional style , with walls that combine ceramics from Fajalauza and good cured meats.

Behind the success of the Soria bar hides Fran, owner and waiter of the place and friend of all the musicians who pass by, with a touch of the famous "malafollá" and great cooking skills. If he has prepared rice the day you stop by for a beer, you will be very lucky. . Among his most loyal clientele are, above all, members of the younger gangs, from Lori Meyers to Aurora via Pajaro Jack or Royal Mail , to name just a few.

eye! Fran has a healthy habit of resting on Saturday night and Sunday, so the bar closes on those stretches.

PROVINCES

A classic of Granada tapas, with "good tapas and little design, the ideal", as he defines it José Ignacio Lapido, ex 091 and now alone and one of the unconditional supporters of this place.

Located behind the Plaza Bib-Rambla, the fame of the place makes it sometimes difficult to find a place, but it is worth the wait. Among his specialties is fried fish, rice and migas and Jorge, his waiter, is another institution in the city.

PAPAUPA

Not all musicians opt for "those of all life". The members of Niños Mutantes usually meet at the Papaúpa , a cozy place recently opened in the Realejo neighbourhood. They define it as a place "where the treatment is familiar, the decoration at a New York level and the cooking with love and South American touches ”.

It is in this bar where the band has shaped its latest album (which will be released in April 2014) and where it has had the first meeting with its new producer. El Papaupa stands out for its food in which flavors from Asia to South America merge and for its variety of beers. In addition to tapas, it has a daily menu at a very competitive price.

LA MANCHA WINERIES

**Bar with little shine and a lot of tradition (not to say greasy) ** and one of the favorite sandwich shops of Granada musicians. Eric Jiménez, drummer for Los Planetas, Lagartija Nick and Los Evangelistas and one of the greatest connoisseurs of Granada bars and music, recommends the “bramble dog” or, what is the same, a hot dog well loaded with sauce “so that it drips up to your elbow” , as he himself defines it between laughs.

La Mancha Wineries they can enchant or horrify you just as easily. Before entering there you have to know two things: 1) They do not serve a tapa with the drink. There what is carried are the sandwiches or the rations. 2) The waiters spend the authentic Granada malafollá. Take it with humor and enjoy your "remunerated dog".

THE CAULDRON

Continuing with Eric's groups (Los Planetas, Lagartija Nick and Los Evangelistas), we are going to move away from the center about four kilometers to reach El Caldero. This is the natural meeting and resting place for the members of these three bands, since is located next to the Air Raid Shelter, Jota's rehearsal room and recording studio , singer of the Planets.

El Caldero has the disadvantage of being isolated and the advantage of being in a privileged location, surrounded by olive groves and with magnificent views of Sierra Nevada . More than a tapas bar, it is a restaurant and its menu has exquisite dishes, including lamb with honey (specialty of the house) . They only open at noon and have a daily menu from Monday to Friday.

THE LITTLE CORNER

For lovers of the classics, La Esquinita bar is a good option. This bar, which recently changed its traditional location in Campo del Príncipe, for its new location, It was one of the favorite bars of the late Enrique Morente and is one of the basics of Miguel Ríos , friend of the owner of the premises. The walls of the bar give a good account of the stories that have passed through there with photos of the singers and musicians who frequent the place. The specialty? The fried fish.

ERIC'S BAR :

“I saw cafes with walls full of poets and singers and I wanted to make one for rockers from Granada”, this is how Eric Jiménez justifies the latest adventure he has embarked on with David Ramírez: Eric's Bar.

space works as an authentic museum of the alternative scene with walls full of photographs from Eric's personal collection (and some donated by other artists) and some "showcases" with objects from different artists ( the skirt that the Well Beloved wore on a cover for Rockdelux , Ana Curra's first chupa or Elastic Band's mandolin, among others). The images change every six months and share a space with exhibitions by photographers and other artists, since another of the premises of Eric's Bar is to serve as a platform for everyone who is just starting out.

Henry's Bar

Friends of Enric's Bar

Open from 8:00 in the morning until 2:00 in the morning, here you can have breakfast listening to the children of San Idelfonso or enjoy a drink to the rhythm of Death Kennedy, tapas, have a coffee or eat, with many chances to coincide with a musician from the scene. In fact, the third premise of the venue, in addition to being a tribute and a platform, is that of serve as a meeting point for that music scene.

Eric's Bar also often host the “post concerts” of its neighbors Discos Bora Bora . This store located a few meters from the bar is another of the cultural centers of the city and offers acoustic showcases of many of the bands that are going to play in Granada. Eric's Bar functions as an extension of these events, offering a space for musicians and audiences to get a little closer.
