'Galdós is Madrid', a visual guide to the writer's favorite places
We did not have April 23 as we are used to having it, with bookstores full of people browsing through their shelves. That's why this July 23 is celebrated the Day of the Book, an exceptional one, as a way to recover all those activities that were left up in the air.
The City of Madrid participate in the festival of letters with Galdos is Madrid, an illustrated map that collects with the colorful stroke of Gonzalo Left and the words of Carlos Mayoral the favorite corners of the canarian writer of which this year marks the 100th anniversary of his death.
Thus, by way of illustration, a kind of galdosian route which brings us to Central University, to the Spanish Theater, through the Plaza Mayor, to the Lhardy, to the editorial office of El Debate, the newspaper that the writer directed between 1871 and 1873, or at number 7 Hilarión Eslava street, where the house in which Galdós died was located and which is no longer preserved today.
will be available for free pickup from July 22 in municipal tourist information centers, at the Cuesta de Moyano tourist service point, in public libraries and in the large cultural centers of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports.
