Nara, the hometown of Kazuki Ikeda, Located near Kyoto, it is one of those must-see places in Japan.
The reason? The wonders that are hidden in his natural park, one of the oldest in the country: Nara National Museum, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Kofukuji and Tōdai-ji Buddhist Temples and , of course, the more than 1,200 deer that roam freely around the enclave.
Although not even the constant flow of tourists through Nara Koen is able to break the calm that characterizes these beautiful animals -which, according to local tradition, have always been considered sacred- , the wonderful video he made Kazuki Ikeda shows us how they rest under the sakura (Cherry trees) flowering calmer than ever.
“39 years ago I began to photograph and often I go to Nara park to take pre-wedding photos of my clients, since I am specialized in it. From the end of March to the beginning of April, I took photos every day in the park. There were hardly any people due to the pandemic,” Ikeda comments to Traveler.es.
“I have a license to take professional photography in Nara Park from the park management office. The deer, which live in the park year-round, have no restrictions on where they can move , so they can get closer to commercial and residential areas. The reason why, even if they saw me record them, they remained calm, ”he points out.
The health crisis that the world has experienced in recent months, with its corresponding confinement, has made **nature, free from human stimuli, regain its harmony. **
