The 2021 World Plant-Based Taste Awards were held this October in London, giving as winners a Spanish drink in the category of Best Drink and a vegan cheese as Best Fermented Plant-Based Product. Do you want to know where to find them?

The Barcelona restaurant, Flax & Kale, has achieved the TOP 3 worldwide in the Taste Awards in the categories best drink (Best Beverage) and Best Fermented Plant-Based Product (Best Plant-Based Fermented Product) with its kombucha , a 100% handmade product that they have been working on for years in their own laboratory, and with their cream cheese.

The Kombucha Dragon Lemonade has been chosen in the Best Beverage category. It is a preparation based on pitaya, lime and lemon that stands out for its flavor thanks to the cold-pressed juices that are added in a second fermentation and that eliminate the characteristic sour taste of this drink. For those who do not know what kombucha is, it must be said that this drink was already made in China around 230 BC, and that its consumption guarantees a highly valued vitamin content, especially in plant-based cooking. It is antibacterial and collaborates in the decomposition of some carcinogenic substances, it also helps to synthesize vitamins of group B and K, which acidify the intestinal tract and produce an inhibition of pathogenic germs.

At the same time, Flax & Kale Creamy has been selected in the category of Best Plant-Based Fermented Product (Best Plant-Based Fermented Product Award), a cream cheese vegetable spread low in saturated fat and rich in calcium and vitamins.

For two days, the Flax & Kale team has presented its range of kombuchas, plant-based meats and cheeses , one of the most complete on the market developed by its own R&D team led by chef Teresa Carles and produced entirely in the company's workshop in Lleida.
