A room with a view: Villa Fontelunga, sunset in Tuscany

Villa Fontelunga

An awakening under the Tuscan sun.

A peaceful picture of olive trees can be seen behind the curtain that serves as an ethereal barrier between our window and the splendor of an intense sunset. It is not that she wants to deprive us of the landscape, but that, being so respectful of her, she has decided that the siesta should not end yet. She hasn't made it either, because she already we had been hypnotized for a while before the belated greeting from the Chiana valley.

Like (almost) all good rural business stories with a heart, Villa Fontelunga's is led by one of those “I leave everything and go to town... to set up a boutique hotel” . Although, now that we think about it, don't all the wonderful stories of Tuscany start like this? This one in particular is located in Pozzo della Chiana, near Cortona, and with Paolo Kastelec and Philip Robinson –also owners of Villas Borgo 69, on the other side of the valley– at the helm for more than twenty years.

The country setting that we now admire has nothing to do with the interior of Fontelunga, full of brushstrokes of quasi-kitsch modernity and from which we will take a break to meet Paolo and Philip on the terrace and celebrate together one of their famous dinners, carbonara and Campari included. Everything points to the siesta tomorrow, this time yes, it will last a little longer.

Villa Fontelunga

Opening the window in Tuscany, more than a view, is a work of art.
