The small Parisian hotel Le Wallace, one of the jewels of the Orso group – makers of the Rochechouart, the Doisy and the Leopold – wears delaying its opening months due to the pandemic. The latest forecasts calculate The opening date will be at the end of November.

Designed, they explain, to evoke the feeling of an elegant and cozy motel on the Italian Riviera, the accommodation, which is creating great expectation, is designed for a romantic getaway but also for a few carefree family vacation or with friends, and it is one of those hotels that we love. Functional but packed with quality details, good taste and retro fantasy.

It seems that this charming boutique hotel with revitalizing colors and 48 rooms, in Cambronne (89 Rue Fondary), will soon finally open its doors, so we have chatted with those responsible for your fascinating interior design, the couple of creators Hauvette & Madani. They are the 'culprits' that we have spent months fantasizing about reserving a room in this new must in the French capital.

Composed by Samantha Hauvette and Lucas Madani the duo has been working since 2010 on projects with a common denominator: their timeless approach to space, that they share since they met for the first time at the Camondo Design School.

Lucas was born in The Angels, where he lived for a couple of years, and Samantha's mother is British, although they are both Parisian and live in the French capital. They define their style as “something modern, with a bit of patina”, and they add: “We try to bring a sense of timelessness and authenticity”.

Their way of creating, they tell us, is very instinctive: “It is our feelings that guide us the most. The things we see, hear, feel, seem to influence our work. But we do not have no established process All of us who work in our studio contribute in one way or another, and sometimes it's a little detail the one that starts the whole process”.

Currently the duo is working on many residential projects, from a 1930's historic house in Paris to a mill in Normandy or a farmhouse in Provence. In addition to the Wallace hotel, Hauvette & Madani have signed other spaces related to the sector such as the Le Moulin holiday homes.

What is what they most like to them from the hotels? “It's hard to say anything that sticks out like that, in general. Perhaps that the places we prefer are those in which we feel at home”, they comment.

For them, the key to sensational interior design is not necessarily A matter of design. “In fact, a place that can be described as cold due to its decoration can be very homey and personal. And the opposite is also true. But if we had to choose a detail that is always important, it would be the lighting, the create a pleasant light atmosphere.

THE BEAUTIFUL ISLAND

We had no doubt, but we had to ask the question… Do you like to travel? "We love! We both especially like Greece. Ibiza too, is an amazing place. Its variety of atmospheres (party, tranquility, etc.) is disconcerting at first, but once you get used to it, you understand why many people are in love with the island”, they explain to us

Last year they finished a project in La Pitiusa that they have special affection for, a penthouse located in Marina Botafoc. “Originally it was a rather uninhabited and boring space, in a common building, without a special story to tell. Our client was looking for an old house, but the location and the terrace of this apartment were so good that we decided transform it into a kind of farm on a roof."

Although the pandemic has meant the delayed opening of the Wallace and probably many other inconveniences professionals (and travelers), they are clear: “We try not to complain too much about it! We feel very lucky our work has not suffered unduly from it and our friends and family are safe from what we really are privileged.”

As for the paths it will take the sector after everything lived these years, have the following opinion: “We believe that human beings are super-resistant and that when this is over everyone will travel again. Perhaps a little more consciously (let's hope so!). And who knows, maybe we'll revive les années folles that followed the First World War!”
