The mayor of Madrid, Manuela Carmena, has already set dates for ** the much talked about renovation of Gran Vía:** it will start in January 2018 and will last eight months, with which it is hoped that, by autumn, we will be able to enjoy a more inclusive and habitable main artery for all.
As the Madrid City Council points out, "in the section of Gran Vía between Plaza de Cibeles and Plaza de Callao, the bicycle will coexist with the rest of the vehicles in cycle lanes 30, leaving the road divided into four. However, in the section between Plaza de España and Plaza de Callao, cyclists will have, going uphill, a separate bike lane of the rest of the vehicles, given the slope of the street".
