Portugal and Spain will open borders on July 1.

We already know when we will be able to travel around Europe and it will be very soon . The president of the Government, Pedro Sanchez , confirmed at this Sunday's meeting with the leaders of the autonomous communities that Spain will open its borders on June 21 with all the countries of the European Union except Portugal, which will reopen it on July 1.

The intention is that it coincides with the end of the state of alarm, which also ends on June 21 in Spanish territory. This announcement came shortly after Sánchez's request together with his Italian counterpart, Giuseppe Conte , in which he asked the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, for an agreement for a controlled reopening of the EU's borders.

Borders with third countries outside the Schengen territory will open from July 1 , and they are still waiting for Brussels to establish a list of restrictions for those states on their movement to the European continent. The concern of the President of the Government, which has been transferred to the rest of the autonomous communities, is that the situation is good in Europe but it is being critical in some countries of America and in the closest countries such as Russia.

For the reopening with Portugal, we will have to wait until July 1 . On that day, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister António Costa will celebrate an act with King Felipe VI for the reopening of the Spanish-Portuguese border.
