The UNESCO World Heritage Committee announced today, at its 44th session, that the candidacy the Landscape of Light of Paseo del Prado and El Retiro goes on to thicken World Heritage list.
an acknowledgment, the first in the capital of Spain, which is thus added to the other four sites in the Community of Madrid that already have such a distinction: the Monastery, the Prince's house and the Royal Site of San Lorenzo of El Escorial, the historic center of Alcalá de Henares and its University, the cultural landscape of Aranjuez and the Montejo beech forest, declared Natural Heritage of Humanity on July 7.
