The book is the work of the independent publisher Streetartbooks.eu , founded in Vienna in 2018 by Thomas Grotschnig after the publication of Vienna Murals - Street Art Guide Vienna .
After a considerable number of walks through vienna , during which they discovered new works of urban art, came to get an archive of thousands of photos . That was the reason why they decided to collect them in a book and share them with the world.
According to its creator, the aim of the publisher is to raise awareness about issues related to urban art and public space , as well as support movements of this kind.
“My interest in urban art began several years ago, I always liked to see artists painting and also helped here and there. I lived abroad for some time; in Madrid I met some artists”, he explains Thomas Grotschnig to Traveler.es.
After the success of the guides from Vienna (Austria), Mannheim and Berlin (Germany), you are more than 150 pages in landscape format (A5) and available in two languages -English and Spanish- they aim to be both a source of documentation and a manual for walking through the heart of the Spanish capital.

“When I returned to Vienna in 2016, I was very impressed with what had happened in the city during that time, in the field of urban art. Many people believe that to experience urban art you have to go abroad . But that is not true at all."
“In your own city there are often incredible scenes and actors that make our cities more colorful. And that is what I wanted to show in our first book about Vienna”, he continues.

"The way you move around the city can be experienced through urban art and vice versa. Urban art is reflected in the context of the peculiarities of the city and its neighborhoods”.

The creation of this sixth post , which is part of the standalone European cities book series from Streetartbooks.eu , is the result of several years of work, although the greatest effort has been carried out in 2020.
“It is essential for us that individual works can be found and views on your site. Therefore, always we publish them with their exact location and also marked on our pedestrian maps”, Thomas Grötschnig tells us.
"Many artists travel around the world and there is nothing more beautiful than finding - in another country or in another city - a work by an artist that one has already seen and whose style you recognize", he continues.
"All our books are created in collaboration with artists and curators. For us it is essential publish the works of individual artists with their consent," he points.
